Hsien Loong Lee
Lee Hsien Loong is a Singaporean politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Singapore and leader and secretary-general of the People's Action Party (PAP) since 2004. Lee led the party to victory in the 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2020 general elections, with his current term beginning on 27 July 2020. He is expected to step down as prime minister before the next general election and be succeeded by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat.
Between 1971 to 1984, Lee served in the Singapore Armed Forces where he rose to the rank of brigadier general. Lee entered civilian politics in 1984, winning his first election for Member of Parliament in Teck Ghee SMC, and has represented Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1991. Under the second prime minister, Goh Chok Tong, Lee served as trade and industry minister, finance minister and deputy prime minister before succeeding Goh as part of a leadership renewal on 3 December 2004.
