Lithuania
Lithuania is an East European country that was first united in 1236, and was the largest state in Europe in the 14th century. In the 20th century, Lithuania was a part of the Soviet Union and broke off in March,1990. Today, Lithuania is a semi-presidential republic with a civil law system.
Lithuania has 60 municipalities in terms of administrative regions.
Economically, Lithuania transitioned from a planned economy to market economy after the dissolution of the Soviet-Union. The country has become a member of the WTO, EU and has entered the Euro Zone in the 2000s. It is today one of the fastest growing Eastern European country with Russia being its largest trade partner.
