Moldova

After the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Eastern European nation of Moldova has been an independent parliamentary republic governed by a series of pro-European ruling coalitions. Moldova adopted its latest constitution in 1994, and has a civil law system with Germanic law influences.

Moldova has 32 raions, 3 municipalities, 1 autonomous territorial unit and 1 territorial unit in terms of administrative regions.

Moldova's economy relies heavily on its agriculture sector featuring fruits, vegetables, wine, wheat and tobacco. With few natural energy resources, Moldova mainly imports its energy supplies from Russia and Ukraine.
